ABOUT HELEN
I am a professional painter/printmaker working from my Green Road Studio in Belfast, Northern Ireland and Seacourt Print Workship in Bangor.
My formal art training was at Belfast, Manchester and North Wales Coleges of Art and Design during the years 1969-1976. After leaving university I worked for a variety of bodies in the fields of design, illustration and lecturing while continuing to develop and exhibit my paintings. During this time I had five books published in the field of education which I authored, designed and illustrated.
After living and working for a time in both America and Malaysia I returned in 1990 and established Green Road Studio with the help of Ledu. Here I am able to concentrate on my painting and printmaking having established myself as a respected painter and built a strong client base for commissioned work while continuing to exhibit in galleries at home and abroad.
I work across a variety of media and mix media but I am primarily concerned with mark making and colour. I build layers to express depth in ideas and will happily mix the materials I use to achieve my end vision but am always aware of the necessity for conservation standards.
